July 12, 2014 – Review of: Montes Twins Malbec/ Cab Sauv

6.5/10 $12.85 Montes Twins Malbec/ Cab Sauv (Chile). Dark purple in colour. Smells Pretty fruity and fresh, but tastes a little too acidic and dry. While it IS smooth, I don’t know about ‘velvety’. Picked this one randomly because it had a cool label…classic mistake. Definitely follows the ‘cool label rule’, which my old roommates and I coined at some point during undergrad. We unintentionally picked out wines that had creative labels, and they always ended up being awful! So self made rule: cool label, but terrible wine. And I have yet to meet a wine that tastes as great as the label leads me to believe.
