September 20, 2019 Review of: Trapiche Pure Unoaked Malbec

7/10 $15.95 Trapiche Pure Unoaked Malbec (Argentina). Dark ink colour. Ripe cherry 🍒and strawberry 🍓on the nose 👃. Extra dry and full bodied. High acidity and medium tannins. Flavours of vanilla, raspberry, cherry and blackberry with a slight pepper finish.
This wine offered interesting plump flavours which I enjoyed 👍but I just found the rich acidity and tannin combo to be overwhelming and left a long standing bitterness, almost sourness, in my mouth. It was much better when paired with red meat… but overall, this bottle is just not my jam. ✌️
