This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Niagara Grape & Wine Festival in St. Catharines, Ontario, for the second time since 2015… and without a doubt, I had the greatest time!
The festivities began at 11:00 am watching the Meridian Grande Parade with friends among a sea of purple and green attire. The sun was out, the parade was loud, and the crowd was full of energy.
From there, we migrated to Montebello Park where the live band could be heard from miles away. In exchange for tokens, we were able to try various wines from the Region and indulge in some good local eats. My notable favourites were: Strewn Rogue’s Lot Cabernet Franc Cab Sauv, Tawse Pino Noir, and Reif Estate Cab Merlot.
Of course, as the day progressed after so many samples, wine became “wine” and my ability to appreciate the uniqueness of each glass began to diminish; we then turned to a sure-bet favourite and cashed in the remaining tokens for a bottle of Fielding’s Red Blend, for a perfect ending to the day.
If you missed out on the fun this year, I highly recommend checking out the Grape and Wine @niagarawinefest next year! Feel free to check out my Instagram story highlights for a recap of the day and to see all 6 wines I sampled 🙈 .
