August 16, 2019 Review of: Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc

7.25/10 $10.95 Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc (South Africa). Smells fruity of citrus and passion fruit. Dry, light body and crisp with high acidity. Flavour notes of lemon, lime and honeydew melon 🍈. Call me crazy but I also got green bell peppers here too.
Two Oceans was a featured sale at the liquor store recently and despite its already low price, the promo hype had me thinking ‘sure, why not try it out’ and so I added this to the weekend haul. I’m always interested in trying wine at different price points, because you will never know what may surprise you!
Unfortunately this bottle didn’t seem to be anything special. It was easy enough to drink, but it just lacked some of the flavour that I was hoping for, and instead offered sharp acidity. It reminded me of a house Sauv Blanc that you would likely be served at a chain restaurant. Not bad, but nothing great.
So, if you are hosting a party and perhaps looking for a cheap just-in-case-we-run-out-of-wine-at-the-end-of-the-night bottle, this would be a fair option 😏. Otherwise, I’d say there are more favourable bottles out there in this price range. #keepinitreal .
